I've tried some home ayurvedic treatments, including having my balance checked, ordering some ayurvedic teas online, resulting in having a sense of greater balance through this and other lifestyle changes.

It hasn't been a cure all, but that, combined with some medication management, has improved my symptoms a lot. I don't react with as much negativity towards stress as I used to, and I'm able to work more and get more done doing it. When I feel apathetic about reality, I take some Kapha tea. When I feel aggressive, I take the Pitta tea. When I feel worried, I take the Vata tea.

Feeling balanced, however, has occasionally left me with some empty feelings. I think that is due to the medication I take, Risperdal and Lexapro. My doctor is going to continue to make adjustments. I think the Risperdal is blocking the normal surge of energy and pleasure that come from being well balanced. Or perhaps it's only an illusory balance that I feel, it's hard to tell.

I just wanted to report my newfound experiences with Ayurveda. After thorough investigation, I found that the right time to jump on the bandwagon is not after the wheels have fallen off, but now. Not that Ayurveda is going to suddenly grow old or disappear. After thousands of years, it's still toted as a 'new age' therapy.

The ayurvedic teas keep me calmer and more ready to handle stress. The tri-doshic system helped me to figure out what kind of body faults I have, such as being overweight, too aggressive, and lacking a balanced psyche, and how to best cure these deficits with subtle and not so subtle lifestyle changes, such as meditating, eating right, sleeping well, and waking up 1 hour before dawn and going to bed before 10PM. That last part is the part I have the most trouble with, as I have some sleeping disorder to cope with.

I'm allowed to eat meat, as long as I don't overdo it, nor should I be eating too much in terms of red meats, fast food and/or too much seafood, except for shrimp. But each person's general recommendations would be different, based on their body constitution type, or dosha. For example, people that worry a lot and are skinny probably would do go to eat more good fat in their diet, such as with salmon. To find this out, you can take a personalized dosha test online. Just do a search for 'dosha test'. It's a great first start towards better health.

So, while I wouldn't recommend Ayurveda as a cure all solution, I believe one can certainly benefit from learning it and that it sometimes leads to a more integrated sense of self without a lot of effort or willpower.

Sorry if this sounded more like an ad or an attempt at conversion than an actual helpful message.
