I've read where DHEA can alleviate some symptoms of scz. It is tried for everything but proven for very little. It is an OTC hormone but advised at low dosage and talk w/p-doc about prostate effects.
Beta-glucan (derived from yeast/maitake) good for immunity. Should not effect allergies. Not specific to BP/scz. Can effect well being very positively if you stay away from the caffeine.
Pregnenlone is an OTC hormone that is said to be the master hormone. Has been called a "neuroprotective". Two studies are in the process of completion or being completed to test it's use in BP and I believe scz in Israel and the US. Said to be good for memory.
Ashwagandha - tonifying herb - I use it in drinks not by itself also used it with Pregnenlone in a complex. Ask about drug interactions/prostate etc.

In addition to your p-doc see a CNN-Certified Clinical Nutritionist or the rare MD who deals in nutraceuticals for mental conditions. It is almost always a waste of time and money to self proscribe nutritionally (except for a multi vitamin or similar). |

There is a brain tonic that contains pregnenolone and ashwagandha and is called "Cognitex". This is good for ppl experiencing sexual problems. It is widely recommended. I did not get relief from other symptoms of scz. Check with the doctor if you have prostate problems. I use it the day before I need it otherwise it is too stimulating. |

For circulation problems I find that D-ribose is very useful. |

Reduced Glutathione usually cannot be utilized by the body but there is a brand that works when taken orally and it's effects are noticeable. It is available from a site called herpes-be-gone.com. Don't dismiss the site b/c the condition doesn't apply. I'm glad I didn't especially after reading the link below. Most of the glutathione on the market is worthless and if I didn't try this stuff I wouldn't believe that researchers fall victim to using useless glutathione while trying to determine it's viability in fighting disease.

When you do a little research you see a lot of sites selling glutathione and precursors. I don't know if they work but I do know the one I mentioned from the previous posting on this thread does work. That's a lot of saved effort for anyone interested. I don't know how or why I happened to find an oral glutathione that resists action in digestive track. It seems kinda impossible but apparently isn't. The effects are consistent. Better balance, sex urge, or just feeling better. It is usually administered by IV.
Transdermal magnesium and this particular glutathione is pretty good work for five months time. Anyone who doesn't take advantage of them, with or without meds, the cheap way or by IV, is kinda silly. This link is the reason why. http://www.glutathionediseasecure.com/glutathione-disease-cure-blog.html |

The best way to get glutathione is to make your own by supplying the body with precursors like NAC. If you need an immune boost, have Parkinsons like symptoms from meds (finding it hard to write etc) you need to check out the type of glutathione I previously mentioned. Clear it with your p-doc.

The above link is wrong, of coarse, when they say that all oral glutathione supplements cannot be utilized. But in a sense they are right, 98% of the time.
I have a relative who has Parkinsons. I doubt he would ever deviate from from his doctors prescriptions. After all, why listen to a *cwazy* guy like me. I would never tell him to go off his prescriptions but I would tell him to try this stuff as an adjunct with his doctors knowledge.
The downside: -stimulating -better to take precursors (they take time, sometimes a lot of time)

Speaking of precursors, when you see a practitioner who knows what they're doing that is what they give you. If you have digestion problems they don't give you enzymes. They give the precursors to enable digestion. If you have a sleeping problem they don't give sedative herbs, they give nutrients that lead to sleep that have almost nothing to do with store bought formulas or herbs. If you have neural problems they don't give SSI serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They give you St John's Wort, 5- Hydroxytrptophan and L-Theanine which bring on serotonin. It all takes weeks and months while meds act in minutes which is why they are more in tune with treating SCZ by experts. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-uIT5X46aJcY/laurie_anderson_only_an_expert_live/

"Only An Expert" - in acute situations like ER's and out-of-control mental/ suicide conditions experts and club meds are great. When doing my own "research" I always fall into the trap of thinking I know everything, or the opposite, thinking I'm a know-nothing. That's part of the whole mood swing of depression and over-stimulation (anxiety) going from knowing nothing to knowing everything.
The knowledge gap between the average person and a specialist/ scientist is so great that the specialist might spend half his time defending the world from the *morans* like the John Malcovich character in my favorite movie of 2008 "Burn After Reading" by the Cohen Bros. (Most people would call it "Burn Before Reading".)
