I have never been diagnosed for anything but that's mainly because I've never told anyone. However, now that's starting to get to me. I don't believe I'm schizophrenic but I'm only a teen and don't know that much about schizophrenia except what I've found online or have heard. So, I'm sorry if I sound stupid and ignorant about this. I just don't know where else to go. I know of many people who apparently don't exist. But, I can't "see" them. It's really, quite complicated. And I don't necessarily want to get rid of them because I consider most of them my friends. I don't think I'm ready to tell my parents about this yet, even though I've kept it a secret for about 13 years (I'm 16). But, having discussions with other people is getting complicated for various reasons, as is keeping my grades up. I've heard about Schizotypal (which I seem to relate to more than most other things) and other branches, but I can't diagnose myself with anything. I have no way to get any advice about this except from people I don't know. Like I said, I'm sorry if I'm completely off here... I just don't know what else to do and I'm scared to tell the truth to anyone I know. And I'm sorry if this isn't the place to bring it. heh What do I do? |

I started out by seeing my family Doctor. You may want to tell your parents that you need to see your family Doctor. You could tell your parents that you are having some mental problems. Usually your family doctor is very understanding and will help you. He will probably refer you to see a phy. Good Luck! This is a big step for you but one that you should take. You do not need to suffer from mental illness there are medicines out there to help you.

Hi Breezyskye
I was scared to tell anyone too and then I got really sick and ended up in hospital for 5 weeks....best to get it checked out...be brave and be honest and save yourself the drama of letting it get out of hand if something is wrong, much easier to just take tablets.
Having been through what I have been through I would be more scared of not getting it checked out.
Please let us know how you go...we are all here for you.
Best Wishes
Sue

Thanks so much for you help!!!
I ended up telling my mom and learned that schizophrenia is actually common in our family. Still, neither of us believe that's what it is in the long run. heh |
