So there is a 3rd much cheaper way to get bioavailable magnesium, Nigari.
"Oshawa" Nigari is Mg Chloride derived from sea water. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnesium_chloride
Info from Zechstein Mg site:
While there are tremendous volumes of research paying tribute to the efficacy of magnesium supplementation in a wide range of health enhancing applications, not much attention has been directed at the method of delivery. Magnesium products utilize an ultra-pure, highly concentrated form of naturally occurring magnesium chloride along with other trace minerals for topical use. Why topical? Because the skin is a living, breathing organ, and is not only the most efficient organ for detoxification, but also holds tremendous potential for re-mineralizing the body as well. So, what happens when you utilize the human body's most well functioning organ for absorption of one of the most life giving minerals available? A cornerstone for achieving vibrant health. For more in depth information, please visit www.magnesiumforlife.com.
Some benefits of Ancient Minerals magnesium products include: Restores cellular magnesium levels Natural cellular protectant Facilitates safe and effective detoxification Relief of aches, pains, spasms Elevates mood and relieves stress Encourages healthy skin tissue Helps maintain proper muscle function Boosts energy levels Supports a healthy immune system Balances the hormonal system Calms overactive nerves Supports a healthy immune system …and much more

For what it's worth Oshawa is a great brand and has been in business for over 40 yrs. I used to buy their miso and would get extremely anxious from it b/c of the high salt content. None of the macro councilors said anything about taking nigari or tofu to counteract the high salt macrobiotic diet. They knew that tofu wasn't really that good for anyone but they could have said something about nigari and saved me a lifetime of anxiety. I could say something about their highflying incomes and Mercedes driving habits, but I won't.)))
That said, I haven't tried the nigari yet, but will do so when the stuff I bought runs out.
Allan Pressman PhD, one of the truly original nutritional pioneers for close to 45 years is the doctor who got me to try MgCL2. He cured my anxiety, depression, candida, shingles, throat infections, PAD, and got me to sleep by making my own melatonin without sedatives of any kind.
Will be seeing his assistant for food testing and for digestion.
He lived through the last depression (1929) and now he's got to get past another one. . |

I'm glad to hear that, and glad that I'm not the only person out there who is open minded enough to try things that seem unusual. I usually keep my mouth shut around everyone else regarding anything health related, despite the fact that I have read and own 30+ health books and have figured out things that the common person thinks is impossible. If a person is unwilling to think outside the box, there is no hope for them.
I have stopped the magnesium after 2 months of using it. In addition to the mineral balancing I'm still doing. I did three months of ozone injections to clean out my blood and destroy the candida. Apparently, that worked extremely well and my blood is now bright red, opposed to the deep purple when I started in October. This treatment is all done now, too. Still doing homeopathy for the moment, which has also worked really well.
Definitely an approach from all angles, but it is working. |

Hi,
Great thread. I just got a bottle of Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil for transdermal application. I sprayed it on my arms and legs last night and this morning, and while I can't rule out a placebo effect at this early stage, my non-objective opinion is that I feel less anxious/depressed and my body is more relaxed.
I've tried oral magnesium for a while without many benefits. My Dr. (a kinesiologist) believes I have low magnesium, low vitamin B and a yeast infection.
My question is this: If Mag Chloride turns out to be the magic bullet as far as efficacy and absorbtion, is there a cheaper alternative to get a similar product?
I looked at the Nigari product mentioned in the thread. Can this/should this be taken via transdermal application? If taken orally, does anyone know what the ratio of nigari to water should be to make a proper solution?
Thanks for reading. |

They - [Links to commercial websites are deleted by administrator - sorry]
- claim that other Mag Chloride made from evaporated seawater contains toxins, whereas "Genuine Zechstein" Magnesium has been sheltered from mankind's intervention. Is this just marketing hype, or do you think their Mag is better? |

After many years on oral Magnesium, I have been having diarrhea from oral Magnesium for about four years.
My blood in my physical showed low Magnesium, for what it is worth. My nutritionist says that blood test does not show what interests him.
I have tried Magnesium Citrate, Magnsium Gluconate, Magnesium Oxide, Magnesium Aspartate, and two other Magnesiums . . .
My nutritionist thinks I still need Magnesium, but I cannot get much into me. Is that because I already have all I need or because I developed a sensitivity?
