I've been suffering from panic attacts since 1992. Since 1995 I've been on various meds: Anafranil, Paxil, Cipralex. Lately I've put on Zoloft, and been taking it for 12 days - never felt SO bad in my entire life. So, NONE of those meds did anything for me. But: over the years I've noticed smth worrying: I got severe anxiety; panic attacks got worse, and now I'm getting them not only outside, but also when I'm at home. My ability to concentrate became much worse. And I also developed insomnia. Then I went on to learn about side effects of different meds, that was scary to read, as scary as withdrawal symptoms that I've experienced, even if I did went of Paxil gradually. So, I'm contemplating the following: those meds may permanently damage your brain possibilities to recouperate, you get hooked on them. Unlesss one's illness is absolutely incurable, I think, one should turn to alternative methods of coping - therapy, yoga, exersize, etc. It takes time, sure. But my experience of all this stuff is that at the end the day you might end at a loony house or jump out of the window. |
