The worst medication I took was Haldol, side effects were terrible, I was almost unable to walk, I resented indifference about everything... Then my doctor switched to fluanxol, I take this mediaction for a year and a half and it's the second worst medication I ever took. I have depression, i have back pain when I walk, I got 60 pounds and I have high blood pressure. I want my doctor to switch the medication to Risperdal by injection but he doesn't beleive the side effect are caused by the medication, he thinks it's because i'm overweight (I weight 375 pounds)... I'm only 26 year old. I think he's stupid because leaving me with high blood pressure during a long time can be fatal to a person. |

Worst by far was Olanzapene. Followed closely by Risperdal.

Olanzapine (Zyprexa) was the miracle drug for me.
I was hearing voices, thought people were out to get me and I was totally non functional, lost in my delusions and paranoia. In a few days after taking Olanzipine the symptoms were GONE!
It was going from a phantasm to normality for me.
One of the symptoms of my illness was a total lack of appetite. I was down to 110 pounds at six feet when I began to take it. I am now up to a healthy 150 pounds. While I can understand that the weight gain with Olanzipine is a negative for some, for me it is a blessing. And it totally eliminates my anxiety too.

The worst drug for me was Abilify. My psychiatrist thought I had become manic (I didn't agree with this), but thought I'd try it. Couldn't sleep AT ALL when I took it - didn't matter how many clonazepam or zopiclone I took, I couldn't sleep and felt terrible. However, apparently it works for some people. Also, Haldol was the first antipsychotic tried, and it made me feel like a drugged animal. However, I was lucky - the Stelazine (trifluoperazine) they tried in hospital worked like a charm! It made me very restless, unable to sit still, though, and this went undiagnosed in hospital. When I got out my shrink at the time gave me procyclidine and it worked! I've tried many atypical antipsychotics, but they don't work for me, unfortunately. I do take 50 mg. of Seroquel at night, though, and it seems to help. I worry about side effects of taking my meds., but at least they give me a life. |

Worst for me was thioridazine. Best was what I am currently on Respiridone. Second best was Haloperiodol, and third best sulpiride and fourth best perphenazine.
Also terrible was stelazine, Chloropromazine (largactil), Modicate, clopixol
I give myself good advice but I often have some difficulty following it |
