I take Perphenazine, also known as Trilafon. I have taken it almost continually for greater than 30 years. It works for me.
Perphenazine is not just an antipsychotoic. It is also an antihistametic, and antianxiety, and an antiemetic drug.
I may have an upset stomach as everyone does once in awhile, but I almost never throw up. Sea sickness is never a problem for me.
I also like Perphernazine because it lowers blood pressure. Which is to say, about four times a year I have some (pretty) gal taking my blood pressure, and when it reads 120/60, she looks at me and says, "You're in pretty good shape, aren't you?" I like that interaction!
I am currently on 36 mgs. of Trilafon. I don't usually take this much of the drug, but I have been anxious of late with the care taking I do for a grrl friend. I was also having breakthrough thought disorder stuff.
My doctors have always allowed me, encouraged me actually, to titrate my Trilafon as long as I tell them what I am doing. Typically, I need the most Trilafon in August and the least in December. Conversely, I need the most antidepressant in December, and the least in August.
I have read that a good drug to take with Perphenazine is Trazadone. Myself, I finally settled on a subclinical dose of Trazadone. I find a dose of Trazadone gives me more curiosity and motivation. I also take Wellbutrin.
I use a subclinical dose of Seroquel to put me to sleep whenever I want to sleep.
I go right to sleep, most of the time. If I don't go right to sleep, I get restless leg syndrome, also known as RLS. In that case, I must get up and take a Cogentin or I will suffer for a long time.
I take Caffeine in the morning, and occasionally, I take Provigil. Provigil will rev my motor! I also take a baby aspirin in the morning, because, in addition to stretching, I want the morning pain to go away by that route, too. (Actually, it may do my heart dome good.)
Finally, I take Topamax and Viagra. Aren't you glad you asked?
