Hi !!
I had a very bad side -effect a year and a half back.My menstrual period continued for over 40 days with very heavy bleeding and we found out that carbamazepine causes a depletion of folic acid that caused this.Since then I have been taking a folic acid supplement daily.

a young friend of mine was just released from the hospital june 12 with aplastic anemia because of carbamazepine. he nearly had a heart attack at home and was rushed to the ER. he is to have a blood transfusion and bone marrow testing, meanwhile he was started on many other medications, for the anemia and also to control seizures. the information posted here says " . . . .agranulocytosis and aplastic anemia have occurred in a few instances with a fatal outcome." i pray he makes it. he had been ignoring his symptoms for months and months. is there any encouraging news to surviving aplastic anemia? |

My experience with Tegretol has been excellent so far. I have been on Tegretol for last 6 years. I am only on Tegretol. I thank God for that too. |
