I'm taking Geodon, currently at a relativly baby dose of 40mg per day (I am a lightweight). My family complains about the way I am since being on this medication as well as my friends. Husband say's I am not the same wife. Son says that I am in my own world can't have a conversation with me. My friends say I don't do anything anymore but sit in the house. I work a fulltime job which takes everything out of me. My boss tells me that I am very calm and have alot of patience at work so that's a plus! I have tried 3 times to come off of this drug with killer withdrawl symptoms which makes me go right back to my dose. I truly believe if they even took one pill of which i take, they would forever quit complaining about me. I try to explain it is the med but they don't understand. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and how you deal with it? |

No they really don't understand do they. My pdoc is currently trying to get my meds so that I am not "flat lining" with no energy or emotion but ot psychotic and depressed as well. Others here are on Geodon , I'm on risperdal and lithium...plus others...but when people havent been psychotic...they have no idea...it is one of those places you need to visit to understand.
I think your doing a marvelous job working and managing a family...I go to bed so early my husband said the other day I don't like him....its not that ...its just that I slepp 12 hours.
Good luck chelle...let your psychaitrist know others think you are too zoned out...but how YOU feel is most important...maybe he could give your husband a ring.
Bye for now and welcome Khaz |

Hi Khaz and thanks for the response. I did talk to my Pdoc about it and his solution was to have me decrease to 20 mg however, at 20mg I get really bad anxiety to the point that it feels like I'm going to lose control. We did try some anti anxiety meds , some benzos and nuerontin but it did not work out well. Pdocs other solution was to taper me off of Geodon onto another antiphychotic. My answer to that was no. I know what to expect with Geodon and am afraid I might get myself into a worse situation with something else. |

Risperidone is an awful drug, imparticular the Depot Injection of the drug. side effects range from being 'living dead' to erectile dysfunction, unable to ejectulate, stops womens periods often all these side effects are permanent.
In the UK I have started an action group for people in the uk to join. I feel like, and others also, complain of the same problem - memory loss and dementia too.
If your in the UK and want to join the group action law-suit against the NHS and the makers or Risperidone then visit http://www.action-against.webs.com/
We plan to sue the NHS and the makers of Risperdone for 'brain damage' caused by this drug. there are far better drugs out there on the market, but the NHS does not like to pay for them, so you get put on Risperidone and Zombiefied.
Join us and let take on the big wigs that have ruined our lives.
Regards
