I have been on this medication since Feb of last year. It was great in that I didn't have to sleep so many hours of the day. Every morning I had no problems getting out of bed, even at 5am. There was no sluggishness in the morning. No need to set alarm clocks to get up. What a welcomed change.
But, some nights I would only get 3-5 hours of sleep on the higher dose. During the months that I've been on it, insomnia was the only one side effect that I had experienced.
The most important reason for me to switch to another drug is because Abilify didn't take the delusions away. So I would be mostly uncomfortable in many social situations. I didn't like to contact friends and tried my best to limit social interactions.

Sorry to hear about your meds not working properly.
I hope you find the right medication with limited side effects.
Here's me hoping for you.
Take care.

Synapse, your hoping and well wishes did help. I'm so much better now. Not symptom free but a lot better. Thanks. |

Loxapine used in combination with Abilify, seems to be working slightly better. I get better sleep but still get anxious a lot of the time. Just realize that I've suffered from shyness and social anxiety since my pre-teen years. Don't know if it has to do with the sz but am trying hard to work on it thru a workbook. |

Hi Fleurette
How are your perplexity attacks now? - does the clonazepam still keep them at bay or do you develop a tolerance to the drug and the anxiety comes back?
Look forward to hearing from you. |

Hi Synapse,
So good to hear from you. How are you recently? Are you still suffering from perplexity?
I was symptom-free for only 1 1/2 weeks and the perplexity has come back. I was told by my new pdoc to try progressive muscular relaxation when it is not full blown and take an Ativan when it gets severe. I've had 2 attacks in the last two weeks. One lasted for 3 hours and the other one lasted for only one hour.
I don't think it was a tolerance to clonazapem but I'll check with my pdoc about that. He said it was a residual symptom of the relapse I had and I couldn't figured out what percepitated those attacks.
Can you find a trigger for when your attacks occur?
Best wishes to you, |

Sorry to hear that Fluerette.
I was under the impression that your perplexity attacks went into remission or more accurately, the clonazepam controlled them effectively.
I still get the attacks.
The only trigger point I can ascertain is being outdoors and acute stress. |

Yes, synapse. It did go into remission for over a year. Now that it's back it only happens once every two weeks or so. I'm so relieved about that. It's worst than having no attacks but better than having them frequently.
I'm not sure what happened regarding my sleep but now it's so hard to get out of bed. It used to be a favourite thing to do , to get out of bed. |

Hi again
My attacks have become frequent lately, happening 4-5 times a week.
I wish mine would go away but not so me thinks.
I have had them for over 20 years and I can't see a cure on the horizon.
No medication has controlled them yet.
I guess having them once every 2 weeks is manageable Fluerette? |

Unfortuantely since I last posted on the subject my attacks have increased in frequency. I don't know why I didn't have them for close to 2 years then they came back and this last week I had them 3 times so far this week. I know what you go thru synapse and I hope that eventually we can get past this symptom.
Best wishes to you. |

I generally get depressed around winter due to less daylight.
I too have been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder which I believe is more difficult to treat than any of the other anxieties.
It is a mystery why they stopped for you for over a year.
Did you keep a diary way back to refer back to so you can pick up anything you did different 1.5 years ago?
Regards.

No there wasn't anything that I could pinpoint that I did differently to cause the perplexity to go away. My current pdoc says that it is a residual symptom that might go away again in the future. |

To be quite honest, Fleurette , I don't know what to say except to say we are both in the same boat.
I consciously made a decision to ban myself from internet mental healthboards for a few weeks which seemed to get rid of the anxiety short term.
I noticed that you posted less frequently when your anxiety went into remission a few years ago? |

Yes, that is true, I did post less during that time but whether that if that is the reason the perplexity went away I don't know. The perplexity attacks turned into anxiety attacks and now perhaps because of an increase in loxapine or in combination with more exercise all attacks have stopped and I'm pretty much symptoms free for the last few weeks. It feels really good to have no attacks.
