I was diagnosed back in 2003 with both Schizophernia and depression and unusually I was put through Rispirodone and quatiapine before being given Clozapean (which I still take). Long story short, I dont have delusions etc anymore but had other problems including internalised agression and stress. None of this changed.
I'm a weightlifter, and as such decided to take a B12 2000-2500mg per dose twice a week under the skin for appetite stimulation (common in any weight-orientated circles). I did this twice a week for a number of weeks. Day 1 nothing, day 2, I felt *UNBELIEVABILY GOOD*, and litterally over about 2 weeks I lost all that aggression. Better still (oh, and no I dont take steriods!), I stopped taking that last year and I've had no return of the aggression!
After another lot of research I decided to take some time released Vitamin C @ 3000mg per day. Again, second day I felt a strong sence of wellbeing and happiness and that lasted a good 3 days, and all my stress litterally went with it!!!
I've no idea how this is possible.???
Does anyone else have a similar experience? |

I started to take some B-12 pellets. You stick them under your tongue and wait for it to dissolve. It tastes very good and I must admit, I'm eating them like candy. Yours, Cindy |

There isn't link between taking vitamins and feeling of happiness. As a spotsman you must undestand that vitamins (vitamin and mineral complex) need not for taking off stress but for support cell balans in period of high mental and emotional work. Vitamins don't taking off stress, they help to support normal physical form. |

Nicotine depletes vitamin C in the body. So if you smoke, dose up on C.
B vitamins are good for regulating mood i understand. I take those, as well as C, ginko biloba, iron, E, calcium, folic acid and a host of others
i heard that if your tongue has deep vertical grooves, it is a sign that you are not getting enough b vitamins.
I also heard that if you have grooves running across your tongue, horizontally, it is a sign that your spleen is not working quite as it should.

Good post guy!! Time released C @3000mgs a day is something I have to look into. I was taking vitamins and juicing while I was in warp time. It broke after 3 yrs but I was doing 3 or 4 things @ the same time so it might be that everything contributed. Three months before it broke I was eating fish like crazy. It was instinctive fish=brain food. I didn't stop to figure it out I just needed fish. My brain needed fish. I lost 40 lbs in 8 months. Of coarse after it broke I stopped all of that good stuff and started in with the sushi and saki (more fish)and the fried chicken and gained back 10 pounds. I still take seriquel 50mgs for sleeping.
I read somewhere where a guy from MIT stopped his hallucinations by eating what he called "the cat food diet". Plenty of salmon, tuna, turkey, and he added a veggy for fiber. But he was after the tyrosine.
(He got that info from this group of researchers from Oxford who told everyone they were going to put out a drink for scz that contained amino acids including tyrosine but never put it on the market. I wonder if they ran into trouble from big pharma???)

Dear Members,
There is no reliable scientific research that vitamins (at any dose) are effective in the treatment of Schizophrenia. High-dose vitamin consumption is medically dangerous.

You can find higher vit C in strawberries than in citrus I hear. I don't know if that's true but I do know strawberries are high in C and zinc.
i agree with dr long. Don't do the vitamin thing without a doctor or nutritionist present who knows your body and what it's needs are. It is easy to overdose on vitamins!!
Look for the vitamins you need in food! Seriously, fresh natuural food actually is cheaper than the processed stuff that seems the cheapest and has very little real nutritional value if you ask me.
I have a ton of amazing high fiber, high vitamin, healthy foods that I'll post in the recipe area. There will be names of things you might not recognize but check our your health food sellers. They often have a lot of this stuff. Like spices which you can buy fresh, cheap and in bulk. Same wiht high fiber cereals and stuff. Bulk bins of chick peas and pumpkinseeds
and i promise. it tastes so good! Better than you'd ever think.

Hi, I just joined this forum looking for some specific info. I am looking for a pharmacy in Minnesota that makes subcutaneous B12 injections that are preservative free. I have a son with autism and we are looking for a pharmacy closer to us to fill his prescriptions. If anyone knows of one, please reply. Thanks so much. |

If you take time, it's possible to do this yourself through the internet. I bought Synthelamin (google that) and got the needle etc from the pharmacy. Worked a treat subcutinously. It improved my feelings of well-being @ 2 grams * once a week.

High dosages of vitamins are hard on your liver and kidneys so, be careful when taking them. |

Yes, I have had that experience where all stress and anxiety leave totally. I was taking Beta-glucan. My anxiety was replaced by a PEACEFUL euphoria. Amazing is the perfect word for it but it lasted only 1 week. During that time I was no longer scz. I had to up the dose to the maximum to keep the feeling of well being going. After a while I started dropping things, and hurting myself as the positive feelings disappeared and my anxiety returned.
It's funny because Dr Peter Kramer (Talking To Prozac) describes giving people antiglucocorticoids to depressed patients in his latest book producing a similar period of "euphoria". This would wear off to be replaced by big side effects of the drug. When he does it it's called euphoria when we do it it's called "placebo".
What happened? B-glucan is an immune modulator. When I took it I might have shocked my system and then over stimulation set in which started making my immunity wear down. B-g does not have any neuro effects but it does affect immune cells. This is one reason why IMO scz is several different conditions many of which occur in the body below the brain. My anxiety probably does not originate in my brain.
I have experienced something like this on rare occasions with today being one of them. I still take small amounts of B-g but i cannot say what caused it this time because i take several supplements throughout the day as part of a supervised program.
I have been taking the supplements with coconut oil which is supposed to potentiate medicine or in this case supplements. The brand is organic and non pasteurized with the white color left in. Tasts great and doesn't need refrigeration.
All of this is subjective and there is no proof anywhere that b-g works for scz or anxiety but does have measurable effects for several other conditions.

Dear Administrator,
You are wrong. There is plenty of evidence that certain 'Vitamins' can not only treat Schizophrenia, but put it into REMISSION. See Dr Abram Hoffer's work with Niacin to treat this disease.
I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but it really bother's me when someone (especially on a forum) shows their ignorance (lack of knowledge) about a subject they know little about. I suggest you do a little more research into this. |

YES, there is. There is also plenty of evidence food itself has profound effects on our moods (because of the vitamins/minerals ect in them) |
