| Topiramate is an anticonvulsant medication not licenced (or convincingly proven) to be effective when used alone in the treatment of Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disorder. 50% of patients on this drug report cognitive difficulties (confusion, poor concentration, forgetfulness). Topiramate decreases the effectiveness of lithium or risperidone by 20%-25%. |

Topamax; it did what I asked of it, but killer side effects!
I discovered I had high cholesterol. It is likely that the cause is my midnight eating. I had been getting up in the middle of my sleeping and eating huge amounts of chocolate.
An off label use of Topamax is to stop that specific eating disorder.
Apparently, the Topamax did what I hoped it would do. Also, I have already lost five pounds, which I am happy to lose.
The changes I have are hard, however. First, I have vivid reams. So far, that's ok. Second, I have tiredness during the day. The jury is out on that one. Third, I wake with such a dry mouth that it is painful. That's bad for the mouth to have no saliva.
Who knows. It seems that you pay for this, or you pay for that . . .

 hi I also take topamax i havent lost any weight but my mouth is so dry i feel your pain sucks. Im bi-polar Its getting worse as i get older in my 20s it was great now i get bad manias when im not on my meds or if i dont sleep well. I get homework everytime i see my doc and its to sleep. i just see it as a waste of time but i dont want to be like this for ever .

Hi, i'm taking topiramate 3 times a day. twice in the morning at 8.00am. and once at night ay 8.00pm. but i still get the odd fit now and again. i contracted seizures in June 2005. from then on I've had 5 Seizures. i've had 2 in the last month.
i also started having weird type of day nightmare. their really hard to explain. thats why i've came onto here for help. i dont no where to turn to for help. I'm 17. and i dont want my mum or anybody to think i'm going mad.
sometimes while sitting watching tv. or on my computer. or just randomly reading. i get negative thoughts. which really make me feel bad. i just want to curl up and make them dissapear. they usually go away after 10 mins.
they normally happen while either in bed at night. or at day while sitting round the house doing nothing. |

I know that I replying to an old post. I currently take Topiramate. I first went on it for the reason many others did. I then found that my migraine headaches were not as often or as intense as the used to be. I went back on topiramate a few years back to help with my migraines, which I don't get many anymore, for what I call maintenance prevention of them.
