...that the reason doctors give ECT is to get the ill person out of a suicidal state. After the ECT, the patients mood is a lot better and he/she is NOT suicidal anymore. But, when I hear stories such as those told in this community, I tend to wonder...maybe it's not that great after all. I mean, if you can't even remember how to boil water...that's bad...and if you don't remember anyone, especially the ones you love...that's even worse. It's so sad to hear this. Take care, Cindy
I have never had it and don't know much about it but it sounds archaic. I tend put this in the same list as things like insulin shock and frontal lobotomies, singulotimies (is that what they're called?) etc.
Considering how little we kno about the brain, it seems to me procedures like this are awfully arrogant.
