And he did a lot of good. Psychologists are great to talk to, but in Vancouver, Canada, they are not covered by our medical system. They cost $100 - $150 per 1 hour session. I went about 4 times a long time ago, but the psychologist said I've improved so much (mostly from a counsellor whom I saw) that I didn't need to see him anymore! I was happy about that! It was so expensive. Then, I continued with my counsellor who was a teacher but wanted to do counselling as his profession. I saw him about a dozen times and I was much, much better at the end. Definitely they helped, but the medications were a big factor in my recovery. I think that if you can afford seeing a psychologist along with the main treatment from your psychiatrist, then go for it. Actually, I'd like to talk to a psychologist every week if I could afford it. They just help with daily life and things that you'd like to discuss but didn't have enough time with your psychiatrist. Hope this helps, Cindy |

I went to a Psychologist once and, She was so so. But not very knowledgeable at her job. She went down the line of problems and just guessed. gave up when she could not or do not want to help me. Was real careless and nutty. As I got to know her a bit she did share some stuff with me, like parts of my files and what other people thought, what she thought. I admired her so much but she showed a pretty lousy job well done!

i went to some psychologists when i was depressed during my stay in university. in my opinion, i don't think the psychology or a psychologist may solve the all problems we are met. in the same time, not all the psychologists are happy with their living conditions or their lives.
in China, psychology is not regarded as the main subjects in universities now.
in general, incommensurability of the cultures and languages and values is the true reality of the world. just partial communications.
