As you know I am not diagnosed schizophrenic but did have a breakdown with psychosis years ago and continue taking antipsychotic medication.
For over 2 years I have had a constipation problem and have had 2 colonoscopies with endoscopes and have just been told I just have constipation.
Over the last year it has gotten worse in which it was causing me severe pelvic pain with numerous dictor visits from gynecologist to primary care doctor and gargle gasrtoenrologists and even emergency visits because the pain was unbearable. This ordeal has gone on for over 2 years.
They ran numerous tests and could find nothing but female prolapse and constipation told me that my antipsychotic may be to blame for the constipation.
Well, 4 months ago I went to my GP in hopes that she can help me with this pain and figure out what's going on.
At that appointment she to,d me that I need a psychologist and that my symptoms are all a part of my psychosis.
I was floored as I have been stable for 7 years now and medicated and have not had any incidents of psychosis since my breakdown.
I told her" excuse me??? I do not have psychosis and have been medicated for 7 years now. Hold a full time job and am quite stable and I am in pain.
I have since reported her and have a new GP.
Also since I have been seeing a urogynecologist whom had me do biofeedback therapy for the prolapse which did help but not all the way. He says we may have to do surgery. Anyhow he ordered a defocograohy MRI which is an MRI that you do while defacating out uktrasound gel.
The results are pelvic floor dysfunction where my pelvic floor does not relax the right way. Also my rectum is descending and I have a rectocele. My bowel storage is not normal.
So anyways I got accused of my problem being due to psychosis from my old GP and here they find the problem.
I am livid!!!! How we get labeled by doctors and they can ignore our health concerns just because we have a mental health problem.

chelle25,
I had a different idea of 'labels' in this discussion before reading about your experience.
Anyway not going to address that.
Might I suggest alternative treatment for your condition based on natural medications and homeopathics? Some fruit concentrates like Noni and coconut water are very good for gastrointestinal function. You might want to avoid coffee. Avoid black tea and coca-cola. Papaya enzyme is particularly good, and you can find it in local vitamin store. A homeopathic called carbo-vegetalys is good for stomach upset, although not specifically gastritis.
Where I live, I found a wonderful 'medication' liquid based on amazonic plants, that healed my gastritis. I was eluded by the med system into taking pantoprazole years before that. Maybe you can look around in your area in a naturopathic store for something similar. Please keep in mind that I do have my reserve against New Age treatments, and my psychiatrical 'profile' is strictly allopathic orthodox.
Best regards,
