Finding the ideal midfielder to achieve that sought-after "33" chemistry, feels like an Squad Building Challenge now, which is a little naive. Squad Building Challenges are still an excellent way to spend the time doing nothing. But EA's'sudoku for football nerds' is best played with the app companion to the game, and away from Ultimate Team's unresponsive console menus.
In a dark portent of the football licensing battles ahead, FIFA has lost the J1 League license this year, which meant no more King Kazu. The result was the pivot to one of the most exciting Bronze and Silver Australian A League team with the formidable attack force from Hibs winger Martin Boyle and the aptly called David Ball. As with last year's team my team, which was my underdog, caused a few rage quits from rivals sporting million-coin outfits and exposed Ultimate Team as a gilded farce.
There was a sense of the shame of a double-digit thrashing when the pros found me, however. The more players began rolling in, I quickly noticed that playing three players at the back is a swift way to concede a 3-0 advantage for wingers who are not able to show the slightest bit of speed (as they do typically). All in all, it's par for the course as far as the online multiplayer is concerned as well as fidgety twitching emotional highs all the time. It's the FIFA that we are all familiar with, at its most frustrating.
In any case, Ultimate Team's bread and butter of purchasing and selling silly little guys is still difficult to recommend. While I'm still having some fun every year, without ever paying, it's the barbarous nature in which you can quickly be pulled into debt after going full Gollum with one last precious player pack.
