I am currently on a fairly low dose of Clozaril and only take 300mg/day with 100mg in the morning and 200mg at night. This combination seems to be working very well, I sleep at nights and have much less symptoms. I don't seem to be nearly as depressed as I was before and sooo less amount of time spent thinking about suicide. This could be either from having less symptoms of sz causing less depression. It used to be frequent trips to the ER from self harm, usually overdoses. And now have found a new found life. Only side effects have been tired after 45min to hour of morning dose, which is comprimised by being able to sleep at night. And have gained about 70+ pounds in a year and 10 months, where I was deathly skinny before and needed it, but that is alot of weight gained in a short period of time. There is a need to have bloodwork done every week and after 6 months (? I believe) it becomes every other week, but you get used to it. Before I never wanted to leave the house and am now alot more comfortable doing so. And being forced to leave your home atleast once a week is a good way to get yourself out there, now I have no problems with this and go out atleast once a day, weather permiting. Here it is pretty hard to get prescribed it, but if your offered the chance to give it a try latch onto it. Alot of people are squeemish when it comes to getting the blood work done and hearing that there is medical complications that can be result after awhile, don't let this worry you as the chances are VERY rare when the blood tests are used as a precaution. If the levels are off they take you off, just make sure to keep up with the tests. |

Well MKultra its good to hear u r having alot more fun with your life, the wieght i put on through meds was needed to, i accually like being 13odd stone. Blood tests, yeah doubt anyone likes them, i was on couple of meds that were injections, (depot) they call it i think and i was'nt happy with it at all -- ended up on tablets after they started to trust me in taking my medication by myself. Never been on clozaril but my pyhciatrist has mentioned it i think, but im happy with zyprexa. Just keep that possitive attitude for the rest of your life n things should be sweet, u r doing very very well it sounds like. Gratz................. |

I was on injection for about a year and a half and never got used to getting that needle every other week in the hip, and it usually ended up with my muscle there hurting when I would walk for the rest of the day and sometimes the next. I believe it was called modicate. But it was something they had to do to me because I would always forget to take meds or think they were tainted with poisons. Another thing I forgot to leave out is I found with most medications you can go weeks without taking your meds before symptoms start to return, but I found with Clozaril if you go 24 hours without a dose the symptoms start returning pretty instintaniously, therefor it gives you a better believe that most problems must be from sz and that there is the possibility that certain things aren't real, maybe it really is just all in your head. And usually quickly return to taking the medication again, returning back to a happier state. My mind still tries to percieve tricks my mind plays on me as real, but I seem to be alot better at talking myself out it. |
