Reading these posts and consider myself very lucky that 50mgs only seems to affect me sexually.
This was prescribed as a knockout for my insomnia. I had a kind of mania & hallucinations that kept me awake for 3 straight weeks. 50mgs would put me out for about 3 hrs. at first. For 2 months I would only get 3-5 hrs sleep before I got better. Now, 3 months latter I sleep for 10 hrs. which is also an effect. I can function very well on much less. |

yeah im fairly lucky. I'm now on 800 mgs which is way too much dont know what they're thinking..
I have not had weight gain or insomnia trouble.. that is i've always had insomnia in one form or another an the seroquel.. don't know if that had an effect except at first i think i slept more, then that stopped.
clearmind like you i have a sexual reation to this drug. My sex drive is not what it shouldbe.. it is rather low..

I've had a pretty rough time with Seroquel, when I was on it. It worked in the beginning, but I later relapsed. No matter how high the dose got up to, it just didn't touch the psychotic symptoms.
Sometimes when you've had Seroquel in your system for a while, and you stop taking it, you may get insomnia. At least, that is what happened to me when my doctor discontinued it. |

I was on 100mg a day for 4 days and decided i didnt want to be addicted to take it to sleep and the possibility of diabeates.so i can go back on celexa which is more suited for me because of my fibromyalga arthiritis and a.d.d., so after 3 days of being off of it i still can only sleep about 2 hrs a night and am all wired up feeling all the time so i took some benadryl and it smoothed out the wired up feeling and i slept 1hr |

I am taking Seroquel for one year. I had some kind of psychosis. First half of this year i was in hospital and i felt like zombie. it hits me in about one hour or two, and i was very down. i was sleep in hospital most of that time, like the other pacients do. Now i am taking 600 mg, and i feel much better than in the begging. No nightmares, no paranoia, just a little bit of fears. I am also tired sometimes, but not that much as in the begging. Sorry for my english, it's little bad, i am coming from slovenia. |

I am a rapid cycling bipolar I without psychosis. I have been taking 800 mg of Seroquel for almost a year and I am also on 900 mg of Lithium a day with Ambien to sleep. I would be dead if not for Seroquel. It took care of all my symptoms and I am so grateful for it. Its very expensive but worth it. The FDA just approved an extended release version for use in schizophrenic treatment and I can't wait for it to be approved for bipolar treatment. It would be nice to take only one pill instead of 4 each day. The only problem I've had with it is about 4 months after I was taking it I lost my ability to taste anything. This is a very rare side effect. It lasted for about 3 months then one day I was able to taste again. At the beginning its tough but just stick with it and its worth it in the long run. |

seroquel didn't work for me. I am very negative about it. I was stable on olanzapine and we switched me to seroquel because it is better for weight control. After switching I had the odd warning situation where I felt like the pastor in the church was talking about me specifically. So I decided to just not take it personally and told myself to not be paranoid - I should have quit the medication. I then had a full scale relapse when I returned to study in the same place I had my first breakdown. They say that it is dangerous to go back to the same place where you have had a breakdown because the environmental cues bring back too many memories. There was a story I was told about a woman who had a mental illness and she recovered and got her phd and became a psychiatrist. Then she went to work in the same hospital where she was initially hospitalised and within the same day she ended up in a straight jacket. I specifically asked my psychiatrist if it was a good idea for me to go back to the same school - and she said as long as you are on treatment it will be ok. Well it wasn't. I blame seroquel. I also blame her stink advice. Somebody tell me if I can sue the makers of seroquel and I will.

Hi. I was hospitalized 4 days go due to depression/ insomnia/ anxiety all of which were caused by anxiety. The first day the doc gave me Ativan (I have never been on an anxiety med before) and valium due to anxiety/agitation. It wound up nocking me out until I could meet with a psychiatrist the next morning. the doc said based on symptoms, everything I have been going through was caused by anxiety and put me on 25 mg of seroquel 2x a day and 50mg at night. It knocked me out cold! The doc therefore reduced it and I am now on 12.5 mg 2x a day and 50 mg at night. I know I've always had anxiety (I also have ADHD) but have never been on any meds for anxiety. Since I started the seroquel 3 days ago I feel like I get anxious much less, but when I do happen to get anxious the level of anxiety has been MUCH higher than ever and I've also felt almost "angry" too. Idk if it's just because I've been through a **** ton of stressful events in the past few days (I've never been hospitalized ect.) or if my body just needs to adjust because I have never been on anything for anxiety before but has anyone else experienced this? I don't haveinsurance so I won't even be able to talk to a psychiatrist about this for a few weeks. These potential "side effects have lessened" each day I'm on it, but I still think although the frequency of my anxiety is less, when I do get anxious it's more intense. Any thoughts? I am also on 70 mg of vyvanse for ADHD. Please help! |
