When I start to get paranoid, I try to cut back on stimuli. I call my psychiatrist and try to get in as soon as possible. If I don't have a psychiatrist I can trust (this happened to me), I call the Crisis Line or go to the Emergency ward. This has only happened once as far as going to the hospital goes. I increase my medication a bit. Meditation helps, if I can calm down enough to sit and say my mantra. For me, due to the paranoia, other people don't really help. I know, after all of these years, that the intense paranoia, etc., will pass if I only hang on. If I'm so sick that nothing seems to help, I will have one or two beers, but I'm not recommending this, just saying that it's better than doing something drastic. However, if you keep drinking to deal with psychosis, you'll end up with other medical problems (as I did). To keep psychosis away, meditation, exercise (yoga), hot baths (hydrotherapy) help, as well as taking my medication regularly, and checking in with my psychiatrist regularly seems to do the trick.
