A glitch in one of FIFA 23's Heroes Packs has turned rather costly after the tradeable FIFA Ultimate Team Hero merchandise was added to the game's virtual transfer market at a significantly reduced price. The chaos ensued when players tried to sell off their assets when their value dropped, trying to recuperate loss as the market flooded.
FUT Hero Items are very rare and therefore valuable. Each is associated with an footballer who's played a a major contribution to their club , or is a fan favorite for any reason. The Hero item can fetch thousands of FUT coins per piece in the market for virtual transfers or is available by buying packs. There is a very slim chance of winning one.
Thus, when EA misjudgedly released a bundle that contained a tradeable Hero item at a low price of the 25,000 FUT coins, the market was hit with an abundance of low-cost Heroes that caused it to drop and wiping out the supposed value of the most valuable items. Collectors of rare Heroes started selling them when they noticed prices dropping which threw gasoline on the fire. This is understandable, though due to the fact that the rarity of Hero items are worth hundreds of dollars for those who sell them through third-party platforms.
The mistake has been corrected and the pack was made accessible for about 25 minutes, but the damage has been done. EA has not yet made a comment about the situation. although the market is starting to recover, the loss seems to be irreversible, and it remains to be seen what the publisher will do to correct the issue.
