Hi Wakemeup
You are very wise, it will take a while for your new meds to kick in and it is good to have some strategies for when you are feeling vunerable.
For me I find routine a good way to structure the day...if you go off course at least you can pick it up somewhere during the day.
I also find that being kind to my 5 senses makes me calmer and more able to cope so that means burning scented candles, making sure the light is just right and playing the right sort of music or no music whatever works for you.I also have a favourite tea I drink..raspberry and peach...which makes me feel good and relaxes me..and I wear my happy clothes...clothes I feel comfy in.
When all else fails a shower, bath, a sleep or some exercise can break that tension cycle....or drawing or writing if that is your thing.
I recently had my meds changed and for 2 weeks I really had to look after myself because there was little change but now 4 weeks into the change I can see that they really are helping and I am not catstrophising every little thing....
I hope my strategies have given you some food for thought although you really are doing yourself a favour by watching your diet, exercising and keeping up with your meds and in touch with your doctor.
Good luck and wishing you a speedy transition with the meds.
Sue

Hello,
I have some advice on this....
It's really important to take care of yourself. I could suggest some things. Try to avoid overstimulation and overly stressful situations as much as possible. Those things could exacerbate your symptoms quite a bit. Get enough sleep and in the daytime, go outside to get some fresh air, especially as it is summer. I find that sunlight helps to improve the mood.
That's all I can think of right now... I hope that it helps! |
