First and foremost, Fleurette, Happy New Year.

I am happy for you that you have become symtom free. I hope this lasts into 2013.

Unfortunately, loxapine is not available in the UK.

I am going to ask my doctor to increase my quetiapine dose to help.

Hi Fleurette

Have you seen any improvement in your anxiety?

I am still getting the horrible feelings almost daily.

Hi synapse,

Yes, I've had improvement in my anxiety. They went away for a while then I had 4 mini-attacks in the last two weeks. The mini-attacks did not require me to take medication but I had one normal attack which I took two Ativans for.

I hope that with the daily exercises I'm doing I can get back on track to no anxiety attacks in the next few weeks.

I'm feeling better than I have been for the whole of 2012. 2013 is looking good so far. I'm glad and thank you synapse for you support and well wishes. Right back at you.

I had my community psychiatric nurse come

round the other day.

We were talking about the fact I have to accept I have panic attacks

which are treatment resistant.

It makes me quite depressed when I read other people have had success with certain treatments but I have had no luck.

I guess I am looking for the Holy Grail cure.

Sorry to hear about your depressed state but for me, I always remain hopeful to get rid of the anxiety some time in the future. If I lose hope then things become depressing. Acceptance is good but hope is good too, don't you agree? I hope you find the holy grail treatment for your panic attacks.

I've had panic attacks too and they feel like I'm going to die of a heart attack. They are always scary to me and I give you all the credit for dealing with them on a weekly basis.

Have you had any luck with exercise or walking?

My panic attacks are about getting burgled or being in a fight and the police asking me to be a witness then not knowing anything and make me look foolish in front of everyone.

I walk 2 miles a days but have had limited success with it.

The only thing helping me at the moment is taking a mood stabilizer prn called Gabapentine. My worry is I will develop a tolerance to it if I keep taking it regularly.

Have you ever tried a mood stabilizer?

Regards

The mood stabilizer I mention is an antconvulsant which

quietens down electrical activity in the brain - useful if you have flight of ideas.

However, I have experienced side effects from it like flu like symptoms so don't think I can continue on it.

I managed to recover from the cold virus - appears it was a genuine cold I had.

All I need to do now is convince my pdoc to re-fill my gabapentin script.

Wish me luck.

Hi synapse,

I've been anxiety free for about 2 months now. I still have times where I feel unwell but it is no longer anxiety. Have you thought about what you can do to balance your chemicals in your brain to decrease these horrible feelings. I'm so sorry that you are going through all this. Nobody deserves what you are going through. Best of luck to you.

Nice to hear from you again, Fluerette.

I am happy for you now you no longer get these attacks. I think it is
hit and miss to get the right drugs to treat it as everyone's chemistry is different.

I would really appreciate to know what combo of medication you are on to
give me an idea of what i should be looking at.

I understand if you find this too personal and choose not to answer.

No problem, synapse. I feel fine disclosing that I'm on 17mg Abilify and 120mg of loxapine. I agree with what you said, everyone's chemical makeup is different so maybe what works for me might not for for you. How have you been recently?
