It is a pity loxapine is not available in the UK.
I know they have approved a spray version for agitation in psychosis in the EU.
Do you find it helps with agitation?
Kind regards |

With agitation I take Ativan. Ativan helps me when I am agitated. |

I remember Chunkybeefsoup when she was online being
on loxapine which helped her perplexity attacks.
I guess I will have to wait for the spray to become available in the UK. |

Hi Fleurette
I have been stressed this last week as I am supposed to be
going on holiday to India for 2 weeks.
I am pertrified of the journey which will take in excess of 24 hrs.
I don't think any med will stop me from having a panic attack.
I am woriied about everything from the flight being cancelled to becoming unwell abroad.
Hope you are well. |

Hi Synapse,
Please take care to eat clean foods when you are in India. I've heard people get sick from their food while there. I hope you won't be so stressed out, it is a vacation after all.
I've been having those uncomfortable feelings, but they only occur once every 3 days or so. It's an improvement over my anxiety but I've still got to get rid of this last symptom before I can be symptom-free, if that is at all possible.
Let me know how your vacation to India turns out. I'm interested to know how and what you did there, afterwards.
Take care, my friend. |

Hi synapse,
I hope what you feared did not happen. Did you have a panic attack on the way there? I hope that you've found ways to deal with the perplexity in a way that is most helpful to you.
My best friend is here from overseas and I'm having a faboulous time with her. She is so generous she got me some gifts, too.
Keep me up to date on how you are doing and have a safe trip back home. |

I am at a loss about how to deal with the uncomfortable
feelings you get once a week.
Could it not be your anxiety surfacing but has been dampened down
with medication?
What sort of thoughts go on in your head or are they below the
surface of consciousness?
Do you feel like pacing up and down or feel you have to stay rooted to the spot? |

My doctor tells me to do progressive muscular relaxation to help with the uncomfortable feelings. I have to practice that once a day until I get the hang of it but so far I haven't been able to practice it a lot.
I do not believe that it is the same as anxiety because I do not feel any symptoms of anxiety. The thoughts that go through my mind are, this is weird and uncomfortable. I feel ill at ease.
How have your panic attacks been, recently? Thanks for posting here in reply to me. |

My panic attacks have lessened in frequency since coming off
the risperidone and just taking quetiapine. I am still monitoring how
effective this regime is.
Are you able to distract yourself with these uneasy feelings or
do they play a great part in your consciousness?

It's hard to distract myself from these uneasy feelings but next time perhaps I will try to read of something to distract myself. I just feel it and I haven't tried distracting myself. In fact, I had an epidsode last night and couldn't go to the park with my friend who came overseas to visit. It took close to 3 hours for the uncomfortable feelings to subside.
I'm glad your panic attacks have lessened and the perplexity? Do they still occur? |

I have not had a panic attack for 10 days gone.
Having said that I am sleeping over 16 hrs a day
so am probably sleeping through them. I find I have less
energy and will power and my wife is constantly nagging.
I am sorry you are having a trying time yourself. |

Do you think your sleeping more is due to the recent change to only quetiapine? It helps if you have something to look forward to like structure of some sort. I know it's easiler said than done, but I wish you all the best. Glad to hear that you didn't have to suffer though any panic attacks in the last 10 days. |

Yes i think you are spot on. When risperidone was withdrawn
i felt sleepier. My conclusion is that risperidone was keeping
me awake and causing anxiety. It is a potent d2 dopamine
blocker which was causing supersensitivy at d2. Quetiapine only loosely binds to d2 and d1.
